A 10-minute drive from the hotel
A bit further east from our hotel in Rochefort-en-Terre and just around 10 minutes by car and 35 minutes by bike, you’ll find Questembert . The town got its name from the chestnut (Kisten in the Breton language), and its motto comes from this: “A rude écorce, cœur généreux” (“Tough on the outside, with a loving heart”).
The townspeople here are always ready to show their friendly spirit, including at one of the weekly markets. On Monday mornings throughout the year, traders and local producers are there to offer their products. In summer at 5 pm each Wednesday evening, the market hall holds a “marché de terroir” (regional produce market), ending with large tables where you can try their products. Lively and dynamic, the town will drag you into a Breton ambiance with concerts and plays.
And for something extra romantic, enjoy a carriage ride through the heart of the market in summer.
From a historical perspective, Questembert has some lovely old buildings such as the Hotel Belmont, the 16th century market halls (a listed historic monument and restored in 1997), and the Hostellerie Le Guennégo.
